On November 29th, 2017, members made their way to Wallaceburg, ON, to tour Aarkel Tool & Die Inc. Aarkel operates out of 5 plants with a combined total of 170,000 square feet of world class manufacturing facilities, and 250 highly skilled employees. They have three facilities, one located in Wallaceburg, ON, one in Windsor, ON, and one in Mexico. They are unique in the industry in that they have 4 separate business streams including Diecast tooling, Plastic Injection tooling, Lighting, and Aluminum Production / Prototype tooling, as well as an exclusive engineering/design team in China. Each of these tool making disciplines are managed within their fully integrated ERP system.
Our hosts, Larry Deleay, President, Kevin Van Damme, Business Development Manager and the Aarkel team enthusiastically greeted participants at their main machining plant on Lowe Ave. Participants enjoyed seeing the machining operations and assembly of these very large tools and just how complex some of the die cast parts have become.
Following the tour participants made their way to Country View Golf Club where an overview was presented by Melissa Aveiro, CPA, CAA of Deloitte, on the “Proposed Federal Business Tax Changes”. Following Melissa’s informative presentation, participants enjoyed dinner and networking at the Country View Golf Club.
Our thanks go out again to Larry, Kevin, Melissa and everyone from Aarkel and Deloitte for making such an enjoyable and informative meeting. It was definitely worth the drive to Wallaceburg!
